Nanny Joy, so many special memories. Such a strong woman. Courageous, caring and bloody stubborn. You loved us all so much. We were your whole world. We loved you so much also. No more parties with you, you’ll have to listen from above, you always loved a party with us and you were always one of the last to leave. Nanny, 92 years you had on this earth and 51 years of them I had loving you. We remember all the fun times and special treats you always had for us. Loved and adored Nannie to Shane (Big fella), Maisie (Your beautiful girl) and Brodie (Your handsome man). Nannie I will love and miss you always. Your loving No; 1 Girl. Jodie xox

How do we say goodbye to someone who is loved so much? How do we say goodbye to someone who has been such an important person in our lives? How do we say goodbye to our Grandmother and Great-Grandmother? Nannie Joy, you were the first to arrive at our parties and the last to leave, you would quietly sit there and take in all the shenanigans with so much joy and laughter. You were the ultimate Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, every Sunday you came for dinner with a package for each of us, everyone’s favourite chocolate block, a bag of lollies, and a chocolate bar. You were not only our Nannie Joy but you were known to all our extended family and friends as simply Nannie Joy, everyone’s Nannie.  Watch over us Nannie, protect and love us as we learn to live without you and on the days that our grief is overwhelming help us remember what this represents, help us remember that grief has come to us because love came first.

Nannie, you came into my life 29 years ago and it did not take long for you to become my favourite person. Thank you for loving me, thank you for always being there for me, thank you for being the best Great Grandmother to my children and for spoiling them always. I will miss hearing your stories, painting your nails and brushing your hair. You kept your promise, thank you for waiting for me. Love you always Jackie xx

I am going to miss that “Hey darl, what you been up to? Is that truck loaded?” I love you and you will always forever be in my heart.  Love Troy xx

Nannie, I love you very much and am going to miss you. Love always Bradley xx

Nannie, I am going to miss your cheeky sense of humour and your smile or laugh that always followed. I feel so privileged to have been your Great-Granddaughter. I owe my love for fresh flowers and chocolate to you. I love you forever, be good won’t you. Love Shelley xx

I’ll miss the way your entire face lit up when I entered the room and the way you always asked how my basketball was going and I would reply, “It’s netball Nannie”. I’ll miss the way that you would flick through the TV channels to find the one I liked, even though all I cared about was your word searches and fascinated by how quickly you could knit. But most of all I’ll miss your presence. Love your baby girl xx

Nannie Joy, you loved me like one of your own, you filled my life with boundless joy. Your love, your contagious laugh and your kindness will forever remain in my heart. I am so grateful for the beautiful memories I got to share with you. May you rest in peace. Love you more than ever Kadesha xx

A Graveside Funeral Service to celebrate Joy’s life will be held at the Castlemaine Cemetery on Monday, 2nd October 2023 commencing at 1.30pm.
